Failure – A Blessing in Disguise
Failure – A Blessing In Disguise
Someone asked me if I have ever failed in life. I laugh and said that I am a professional failure. I have failed more than most people. In retrospect, I thank universe for all the mistakes I have done, because I am more successful than most people. Mistakes are one of those things when life throws you a curve ball. Either you try to hit and miss and continue to miss the ball, or hit and miss and learn from the mistake and hit it out of the ball park the next time. People are so afraid of making a mistake that paralyzes them from doing anything. It is so sad seeing people who have all the right circumstances. qualities and resources for super success and don’t do anything for the fear of failure. The other scenario is for the person who failed for the first time in their life and is so embarrassed and heartbroken of a failure that breaks down and quits. I have seen both scenarios and it kills me. It will all work out in the end, if these type of people just stay on course and not fear failures, and use the challenges and hurdles as a learning curve instead of giving up.
Failure -Children Never Except It
As a child trying to learn how to stand up, balancing, falling and getting up again. This is sometimes painful to learn in the beginning but instinct takes over when the brain doesn’t know anything else. The learning curve of riding a bike – takes training wheels at the start and then we learn to balance. What would happen if the kids stopped and quit? They wouldn’t know the joy of riding and freedom. Well, life is about overcome problems and obstacles. We grow as we learn from numerous mistakes throughout our life. As children we are excellent learners. It is fun and exciting with seemingly endless opportunities to fail, but as kids it is ok to fail, actually it is accepted. The key word here is accepted, because at this age there are no learned so called fear of failures. Making a mistake is an essential part of growing up. However as adults we forget that utter abandon and quit before we get fired up.
Failure -Adults Fear Failure
As adults we have been influenced by risk mitigation and avoidance, both from parents, school and environment. The fun and excitement of learning of new things have been replaced by fear of the unknown, looking bad or just fear of not being perfect. This fear of failure hinders most people for doing absolutely nothing, or attempting to try what my be their life’s calling. What happened to us as we grow up? We are conditioned to not fail. Failure is an ugly word and has a negative stigma to it. We as a society must change to a more encouraging environment for learning and growth to stop making failure a bad word. Learning from your mistakes and do not do the same mistakes twice. Albert Einstein said it best – “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Never give up because of a little set back/failure. Learn from it and move forward
